Clothes

People wear different clothes in different places and seasons.

In winter you should have a warm coat, boots, mittens, a scarf and a cap. A jacket and rubber boots are good for spring and autumn. In summer you can wear light T-shirts, shorts and sandals.

For usual days people wear jeans and T-shirts. For the parties girls have beautiful dresses and boys have nice suits. They put sports clothes and trainers on for sport.

Children wear school uniforms at school. They usually use jackets. Girls wear blouses and skirts and boys wear shirts and trousers.

Clothes should suit you.

My Working Day

I usually get up at 7 o’clock. I wash my face, brush my teeth and do morning exercises. Then I have breakfast, dress and go to school.

After school I come back home at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. I have dinner and do my lessons. My dancing club starts at 5 o’clock in the evening. I usually visit it on Monday and Friday.

At 7 o’clock I have supper and play computer games or read a book. I can watch TV with my mum. We like cartoons.

At 10 o’clock I go to bed.

London

London

London is the capital of Great Britain. It is very beautiful. London is situated on the river Thames. There are about 10 thousand streets in London. About 9 million people live in the city.

Trafalgar Square is in the centre of London. Nelson Column is in the centre of the square. It is a monument to Admiral Nelson.

You can see the Houses of Parliament in London. The highest tower of the Houses of Parliament is Big Ben. It’s a very big clock.

Buckingham Palace is the home place of the Queen. London Eye is a very big wheel.

There are a lot of bridges over the Thames. Tower Bridge is more than 100 years old.

The Tower of London is a museum now.

You can see a lot of churches in the city. Westminster Abbey is the oldest royal church.

There are many parks in London such as Hyde Park and Green Park. They are beautiful.

My room

My room is not very large but cosy.

There is a big desk near the window. On the desk there is a computer, a lamp, some school books and a lot of pens and pencils. A chair is at the desk.

My bed is on the left. The wardrobe is on the right. There are some shelves with books in my room. There is a nice picture on the wall.

There are a lot of toys there. The flowers are on the window-sills.

I clean my room every Saturday.

I like my room very much. It is a nice place for work and rest.

My flat

I live in a nice flat. It is on the second floor.

There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall. The living room is large and comfortable. We usually eat and watch TV there.

My parent’s bedroom is small but light. There is a big bed and two nice armchairs there.

My room is not very large but cosy. There is a table, a chair, a sofa, a computer and many toys there.

The kitchen is small, too. The furniture is yellow. I often cook with my mum in the kitchen.

I like my flat.

Holidays

There are many holidays. On some holidays people go to church. They thank and honour God. People celebrate such holidays as Easter, Christmas and others.

There are state holidays. They relate to state history. On these days people celebrate the birthdays of famous people, like Taras Shevchenko. Independence day is a birthday of a country.

We also celebrate family holidays, like birthdays.

My favourite holiday is Easter. I like to colour and decorate Easter eggs, bake paskas and visit church. In the afternoon we usually go on a picnic.

In different countries people celebrate different holidays. They have their own customs and traditions.

Doing Shopping

I like to go shopping. My mum always asks me about it.

I buy meat at the butcher’s. I buy cookies, brown and white bread at the bakery. At the dairy I buy cheese, milk, sour-cream, butter and ice-cream. At the greengrocery I usually buy fruit and vegetables.

My mum buys clothes at the department store. It has got three floors. There are many departments in it: shoes, clothes, toys, books, sport goods.

Sometimes we do the shopping at the supermarket or market.

Doing shopping is like a kind of travelling.

Seasons and Weather

There are four seasons of the year: summer, autumn, winter and spring.

In winter it is cold and snowy. The days are short and the nights are long. The ground is white. Children can ski, skate and sledge.

In spring it is warm and sunny. Sometimes it is rainy. The trees are green. Birds sing songs.

In summer it is hot and sunny. The days are long and the nights are short. Children don’t go to school. They go to the river or forest.

In autumn it is rainy and windy. There are grey clouds in the sky. The trees are red, brown and yellow. There are many vegetables and fruit in the gardens.

I like all seasons of the year.

My friend

I have got a friend. His name is Max. He is ten. I see Max every day.

Max is a tall boy. He has got short dark hair and a small nose. Max is very honest and kind. His father is a builder and his mother is a shop-assistant.

He likes reading books and swimming. When Max has free time, he plays computer games or watch TV. In summer Max goes to the river and plays in the yard.

I like to go fishing with my friend.

My family

My family is not big. I have got a mother, a father and a sister.

My father Ivan is 40. He is a tall man with short dark hair and green eyes. My dad is a doctor and he is very clever.

My mother Maria is 35. She is a very beautiful woman with dark hair and brown eyes. My mom is a teacher and she is always busy.

My sister’s name is Olena. She is 12 and she likes English.

I have got a pet. It is a dog. It’s name is Rex. I like to play with my dog.

I like to spend my weekends with my grandparents. They live in the village. In summer we often go to the river.

My family is very friendly.

My food

I have four meals a day. They are breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. For breakfast I have a sandwich with tea. I usually have lunch at school. For lunch I can have potato or porridge with meat, fish or sausage. For dinner I eat soup or borsch. For supper I have vegetables with meat.

I also have snacks during the day. I like to eat fruit and sweets. My favourite food is a cake. It’s so tasty!

My mum likes cooking and I always help her. Yesterday we cooked pizza and salad. But sometimes we go to a cafe and have supper there. We usually order different salads, vegetables, meat and ice-cream.

I try not to eat before I go to bed.

My town

I live in Shostka. It’s a small town in Ukraine. My town is nice and green. There are a lot of buildings here. There is the art gallery, libraries, some museums, monuments, and two parks.

A lot of people in Shostka like sport. So there is a swimming pool, gyms for fitness, stadiums and different sport clubs. There are some good cafes in my town and you can have ice-cream or tea with your family and friends.

Shostka becomes very beautiful in spring because there are many trees and flowerbeds here.

It has got a river and a lake where I like swimming. There is a forest near my town and I have picnics there.

I like my native town very much.

My hobby

People have different hobbies. They can collect toys, coins or do interesting things like travelling or playing computer games. They also can make or learn something like painting or reading.

I have a lot of hobbies. I like reading books about animals. In the evenings I play computer games and watch TV. I also attend football (dancing) club.

Most of all I like to spend time with my family and friends. I like to go to the circus, park, swimming-pool, do the shopping and travel.

My mom’s hobby is cooking. My dad’s hobby is taking photos. My granny likes gardening.

So, different people like doing different things.

My school

I want to tell you about my school. I like it so much. It has four floors. There are classrooms for different subjects like Maths, English, Music and others.

Our classrooms are big and light. There are two computer classes in my school. On the ground floor there is a gym. We play basketball and football there. We have got a canteen on the ground floor, too. I have breakfast there and it is very tasty.

The teachers in our school are very kind and skilled. Their lessons are very interesting.

My classmates are clever and friendly. We play during the breaks and after school.

My favourite subject is English. We read texts, do exercises, make dialogues, sing songs and play games during the lesson.
